Story

People living close to nature know that the knife is the most important tool you carry when in the mountains, forests and wilderness. A genuine, good knife becomes your loyal companion and is with you throughout your life.

This is the Survival Knife with sharpener and flint. This is the ultimate every day carry for when you are hiking in the mountains or forests. Your knife will never be blunt and you will never be without fire. We love this knife and can't wait to be in the situation when we need warmth from a fire and a sharp knife to cut up a beast. This is the knife we will carry when ever we are hunting and hope you will too.

The handle is a combination of windblown mountain birches and reindeer antler. Mountain birches grow hardly higher than 2 meters. They wind their way up the mountain slopes, become tough, beautiful and strong. Exactly like the antlers of the reindeer. The mountain birch and reindeer antler are of the highest quality and all naturally raw.

This knife as all Karesuando's knives come with a life time warranty as we believe they will be by your side for that long.

Specifications

  • Handle of oiled curly birch and reindeer antler.
  • Blade 24x100 mm of stainless steel, hardened to HRC 57.
  • Cowhide sheath.
  • Diamond Whetstone fine/coarse

Karesuando History

Karesuando is 250 km north of the Arctic Circle, along the same latitude as middle Greenland and the northernmost regions of Canada. The village was founded with its first permanent house in 1670. Reindeer husbandry is one of the area’s most important industries and Karesuando lies within the Könkämä, reindeer-herding area.

The knives crafted in Karesuando are adapted to their environment of the barren, arctic climate, Northern Lights and Midnight Sun. They make genuine products that are shaped by centuries of handicraft traditions and natural raw materials. Here at hatchet we love a good back story and this is one of the best.
